The Little Business That Almost Was ...
The Story
Over the last several years our company tried to do something simple ... provide low cost transportation to the local community. In the end ... it did turn out that way at all. The back story will shock you, but, it must be told. Why? For several reasons: (1) this helps others understand that there is no money in this business venture so that they do not continue to try to presume that there is, (2) this ventures inability to succeed has nothing to do with capability and everything to do with corruption, extortion, and racketeering.
Will Rent This Ride Still Rent Cars?
Not at this time. We are no longer renting vehicles. That amount of drama and mischief surrounding many of our past rentals has made it clear that some group or groups has decided to become interested in making sure that the business does not succeed. Until law enforcement is convinced that this is a problem, we will not rent cars. As of right now, they are not doing hardly enough to deal with the issue.
Who is Behind All the Mayhem?
It's always easy to find who is behind something that is being done on a criminal level ... if you can find the "smoking gun." For all of the misfortune that the vehicles intended for business revenue have met, it all boils down to one question: Who trashed the 2002 White VW Beetle?
If this question can be answered, then the culprit would be identified and the attacks would stop. Hopefully one day we will get to the bottom of it. Until then ... enjoy the read!

The 2002 White VW Beetle
They say ... go look for the smoking gun when you are trying to figure out the root of a crime. In our case, the "smoking gun" is the damage done to the 2002 White VW Beetle.
Damaged ... Then ... Damaged Again
This car was stolen once, recovered, then ... vandalized. It seems someone or some group has been dedicated to tracking this vehicle as well as others and making sure that they are never offered for rent to customers. After the car was first stolen, it was recovered. Then ... after sitting for months ... our company managed to come up with the money to repair the damage from the theft. But literally days before the car was to be towed to the repair shop, someone vandalized it, causing damage to it a second time.
Does Any One Care?
This 2002 White VW Beetle had been 100% restored by a local mechanic. It was repaired, all issues resolved, and a professionally rebuilt engine had been placed in it, complete with a one-year warranty. It is a shame that someone has been stalking and destroying all the cars that were intended for affordable rentals in the Gaithersburg, MD, community.
Will Anyone Investigate?
We have filed several police reports. However, no one is investigating. No one seems to care that all of the rental cars have been targeted. So a good business has as a result been sidelined.
Does This Look Suspicious?

The 2007 Nissan Sentra
The 2007 Nissan Sentra was restored compoletely. When this car was purchased, it was purchased with a warranty. Therefore, when problems occured with the vehilce, it was repaired under warranty. For this reason, upwards of $15,000 was poured in to the car, making it one of the best run and best maintained vehicles on the road.
Another Car Damaged
A renter of the 2007 Nissan Sentra did extendsive damage to the rental car and then refused to pay for it.
Hubcaps Were Removed
The renter for some reason removed all of the car's hubcaps.
Headlights Were Damaged
The headlights of the car were broken and cracked.

Car Was Repeatedly Towed and Impounded
This car was repeatedly targeted, towed, and impounded. In most cases, it was sitting next to commercial vehicles and box trucks in lots where parking was clearly permitted because of all of the utility trucks that were parked there on a regular basis.
But this car couldn't seem to stay in the lot without a two truck coming by and towing JUST this car, leaving all the other box trucks and utility trucks safely parked?
Hubcaps Were Removed
This car sat in the impound lot. The owner of the lot attempted to help with the recovery of the vehicle by keeping it there longer than they were supposed to keep it.
But the second enough money was accumulated to pay to get the vehicle out of the lot? It had surprisingly (all of a sudden) been determined that it over-stayed its welcome and was towed to Pennsylvania.
Call to the crush yard were ignored and this car as well as one of the utility vans were supposedly crushed. But ... the crush yard never produced any paperwork proving that they crushed the vehicles.

All vehicles come with 200 free driving miles per day. Each vehicle is equipped with a GPS unit, cell phone holder, jumper cables, a tire inflation device., and other useful items.
Rental Car Requirements
Companies that rent through Rent This Ride will be required to identify the driver, who will be required to have a valid driver's license, favorable safety record with the Motor Vehicle Administration, and a free and clear criminal record. We strongly suggest that companies sign up their drivers ahead of time to avoid delays. Drivers are also required to have insurance coverage through their employer, or personally.
